History of Jadidism study in pre-revolutionary and Soviet literature: peculiarities of research

Abstract

In the late nineteenth century, the issue of Turkic peoples education of the Russian Empire took on a special significance. The slogan of the secular and national school became a unified and consistent appeal, an important activity of the intelligentsia, and a form of ideology of national revival, received its realization in movement «Jadidism». In the article the pre­revolutionary and Soviet researches on the policy of the Russian Empire in the development of secular and Islamic education in the Steppe, formation of jadidist ideology as a stage of educational movement in the late XIX – early XX centuries in the Kazakh nomadic society are analyzed. Tendencies and stages of studying the problem in Soviet historiography, reflecting the peculiarities of the development of Soviet historical science, in particular on the study of national movements are defined.
