PEOPLE'S HERO OF KAZAKHSTAN R. KOSHKARBAYEV: HISTORIOGRAPHIC AND SOURCE STUDY ANALYSIS OF THE MILITARY PATH

The article details Rakhimzhan Koshkarbaev’s social background and how he became a People's Hero (1924-1988) by being the first to raise the Victory Banner over the Reichstag. It is well known that he had a difficult upbringing before the war and attended the School of Labour Training. As an adult, he attended the Bishkek Military School and served at the front as an officer. This article will describe his combative journey to Berlin. His involvement in the bloody Berlin operation during World War II is described, as is his selfless sacrifice during this brutal conflict. Reichstag was the first to enter the house while under fire and the first to affix the Victory Banner to its roof. The article used the biographical method, the methodological features of which made it possible to consider the process of identification and reliable assessment of personality. In particular, the materials and articles of the wanted persons who proved that after the end of the war R. Koshkarbaev was the first to hoist the Victory Banner were considered. The source were materials of archival funds and websites dedicated to the Second World War, memories of war veterans, recollections of contemporaries and colleagues of R. Koshkarbaev. The article analyses books about the frontline campaign of the 674th regiment of the 150th division with R. Koshkarbayev during the war, describes his contribution to the path of victory. This article contributes to the development of historical memory, patriotism and historical continuity of witnesses of the Second World War.
