PROSOPOGRAPHIC PORTRAIT OF S. IGIBAEV: SOCIAL TRAJECTORY, PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY, AND INSTITUTIONAL ROLE

Abstract

The relevance of the proposed author's research is determined by the increasing interest of modern humanities in personal history and intellectual biography as a tool for analyzing scientific schools, mechanisms for the formation of research traditions and the dynamics of the development of national historiography. In the context of the methodological renewal of Kazakh historical science, the appeal to the figures of scientists who have made a significant contribution to the development of scientific and thematic areas is of particular importance. In this context, the scientific biography of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Sovetkhan Kabdualievich is an important example of the interaction of individual research trajectory, institutional building and transformation of the academic space of Kazakhstan in the second half of the twentieth – early twenty-first century. The purpose of the authors' research is to reconstruct the scientific path of S. Igibaev, identify the key stages of his professional development, analyze his methodological approaches and assess his contribution to the development of Russian historiography, source studies and regional research schools. The methodological basis was formed by the biographical method, intellectual and historical analysis and source expertise, which made it possible to trace the evolution of his scientific interests and conceptual constructions. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the comprehensive consideration of S. Igibayev's legacy as part of the intellectual history of Kazakhstan, as well as in identifying his role in the institutionalization of historical education and the formation of the research environment at East Kazakhstan State University. Special attention is paid to the combination of classical methods of historical research with interdisciplinary approaches, which allowed the scientist to expand the source base and offer new interpretations of the social history of pre-revolutionary Kazakhstan. The results of the author's work show that S. Igibaev's activity had a significant impact on the development of thematic areas of Russian historiography, the training of a new generation of researchers and the strengthening of the regional scientific historical school. S. Igibayev's biography reflects the typological features of academic training and the formation of scientists of historical science of Kazakhstan in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods, and his scientific works have become an important element in the formation of a national intellectual tradition. The significance of the research lies in the fact that at the current stage there is an increasing need for further development of intellectual history, biography and prosopography as key tools for analyzing historical knowledge of Kazakhstan.
