About the Journal

Journal of History is a peer-reviewed international open-access journal dedicated to historical research.

The journal aims to create a space for scholarly dialogue between regional and global historiography, promoting interdisciplinary research at the intersection of history, archaeology, ethnology, and archival studies. While maintaining its focus on the history of Kazakhstan and Central Asia within a Eurasian context, the journal welcomes contributions to a broad range of historiographical debates in historical scholarship worldwide.

The journal is established and published by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University – the flagship institution of Kazakhstani science and education, recognized by the global academic community and ranked in the top 200 of the QS World University Rankings.

The mission of the journal is to provide a global platform for researchers working on the history of Kazakhstan, Central Asia, Eurasia, and other regions of the world, representing diverse scholarly schools and national academic traditions.

Journal of History publishes original research articles, reviews and archival studies that contribute to the understanding of historical processes, cultural evolution, and social discourse. Upholding rigorous peer-review standards and strict ethical principles, the editorial board ensures the accessibility and integrity of all published research.

Only original manuscripts are accepted for consideration. Submitted manuscripts must represent the author's own independent scholarly work and must not wholly or partially reproduce materials that have been previously published, including the author's own publications.
