The professional museum communities in Kazakhstan: history and reality

Abstract

The article reviews problems of the formation and activities of the professional museum communities in Kazakhstan. Based on the archival sources it is analyzed the experience of creation and functioning which is now a national committee «ICOM Kazakhstan». Through the prism of personal huge experience of museum projects implementation the activity of Contemporary Culture Centre Dasht-i-Art  is presented in figures, not only in Kazakhstan but also in the whole Central Asian region. It is described festival activity of regional museums of the country. The emphasis is made on the successful experience of the East Kazakhstan region architecture, ethnographic and natural-landscape Museum-Reserve and The State historical-culturical Reserve-Museum «Issyk». These examples illustrate the thesis about the advantages of partnerships in the promotion of museums in society. Through analyzing of three areas of work of professional museum communities it is concluded that the combination of efforts of the state and public organizations (funds) provides the most effective result.
