Archaeological excavations carried out in 2014 in the ancient city of Taraz

Abstract

In the article on the basis of written sources described the story of one of the oldest cities – Taraz. Taraz city in the Middle Ages, especially during the reign of Turkic and Turgesh cagans had capital status. The sources Taraz referred to as a major center of trade and crafts. In the days of the Great Silk Road Taraz became a place where important international problems were solved. This article briefly discusses these problems. In article characterized by archaeological studies conducted previously on the site of the city. In addition, the results of archaeological excavations carried out in the summer of 2014, the aim of which was to determine the elements of fortification and fortifications Taraz. Information about silver, bronze and copper coins found during the excavations, gives very important information about the heyday of the city. This period coincides with the rule of the Turks, Turgeshes and Karakhanids. Some structures discovered during the excavations, proposed for conservation and transformation into tourist sites.
