Cooperative movement in pre-revolutionary Kazakhstan: historiographical aspect

The article reviews the history of research on the main stages of the cooperative movement, the
views of cooperative theorists about the essence of cooperative forms of management, its forms and the
main stages of development presented in pre-revolutionary, Soviet and Russian historical literature. An
analysis of the works of modern researchers on the characteristic features of the formation and development
of the cooperative movement in pre-revolutionary Kazakhstan is given. Modern historiographic
base has greatly expanded and new conceptual approaches have been formed about history of the
cooperative movement in pre-revolutionary Kazakhstan. Therefore, the chosen line of research is primarily
due to significant changes in scientific historiographic developments, which contribute to the
formation of the most objective picture on the history of the cooperative movement. The analysis of the
available literature about the cooperative movement in pre-revolutionary Kazakhstan makes it possible
to conclude that in the conditions of the market economy and the priority of the development of the
agro-industrial sector in the economy, theoretical reflection of cooperation will allow to understand its
effectiveness in depth and to properly develop economic policy.
