Localization of the Medieval Cities Merke and Mynbulak

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of localization and settlement Merke Mynbulak, which in the summer is pasture terrain and reserves Turkic Hagan. By using the information of Chinese, Arabic, Persian written sources and the data of oral folk tales and hypotheses about localization researchers settlement Merke and about package Mynbulak in the works N.A. Severtsov, V.V. Barthold, V.I. Masalsky, A.K. Margulan, K.M. Baypakov, A.A. Nurzhanov, O.V. Kuznitsova, A.M. Dosymbaeva. Using a set of sources the author has come to the conclusion that in the Middle Ages section of the alpine zone of Alatau and its gorges, as well as the lowlands between the towns of Aspara and Kulan, Merke where the settlement was called Mynbulak.
