Women history/gender history/ feminism: the ratio of concepts

Abstract

In this paper we propose a generalized analysis and delineation of areas in the such branches in social history as the women’s history / gender studies / feminism. As in Kazakhstan, these research trends are relatively new, it is important to know the origin and the subject area of these branches. Thus, in the post-Soviet space there is still no clear understanding of the difference between gender history and the women’s history. It is important to understand that the gender approach – it is not a description of the events that took place with men and women, and their reaction to the event, and it is not a description of policies on women and their place in the labor market, or in political and social spheres, but the identification of society cultural representations about the differences of male / female. It is necessary to mean that feminism in different historical stages was ambiguous. Thus, the authors emphasize the need to clear delineation these fields of study areas and a clear understanding of their differences.
