Abstract

This article discusses the most difficult period of the Soviet Kazakhstan – the 20-30-ies of the twentieth century. Highlights the problems of hunger 1930-ies, caused by the effects of forced collectivization, and mass settling of the Kazakhs. Examines demographic changes in this period, among the Kazakhs and other Turkic peoples according to the materials of the Union census of 1920-1930-ies. Special attention is paid to the study of the changes in total population, sex and age structure of the Kazakhs. Key words: demography, census, statistics, Turkic peoples, migration, Central administration of national economic accounting (TSUNKHU).
