Mythological representations Kazakhs : the example of the toponymic myths

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of toponymic myth of the ancient Turks. Toponymic myths is completely fictional stories by people’s collective imagination, reflecting the reality of supernatural beings, which became the basis for the names of objects. In this regard, the author examines the mythology of the origin of the Syr Darya and Amu Darya rivers. As the author of affected sources, where there are references to the Syr Darya river. The views of some authors about the toponym Syrdarya how it has changed throughout history. Altai Mountains, Bayan-Aul, Kokshetau, Kelinshektau, Karkaraly are the pride of Kazakhstan. Considered one of the most picturesque places, and develop as tourist sites. Therefore, the author considers it appropriate to bring the myths of these place names, which explain the origin of the marked mountain. The existence of unfinished objects in settlements, impel people to the folding of myths and legends. An example of this myth is the settlement Akyrtas in Zhambyl region. History Akyrtas study at the end of the XIX century, and has not yet been constructive conclusions about this unique object of history and culture. Meanwhile his toponymic myth is a story for all people attending Akyrtas. Key words: place-name, the legend, the ancient Turks, mythology.
