The Baymukhamedov sultans: process of entry into the nobility of Russian Empir

Abstract

In this article is considered the mechanism of entry representatives of the local elite, on the example of the Baymukhamedov sultans, in the structure of officials and exclusive estate of Russian Empire – dvoryanstvo (nobility). The base for this was administration reforms of the first half of XIX century, which pursued by the Russian Empire in Young and Middle zhuz territory. In result, began the process of destruction of traditional socio-political structures through liquidation of the traditional system (khans) and creation of new class groups from 20th years of XIX century. In this context, the senior sultans (in the territory of Middle zhuz), sultan-rulers (in the territory of Young zhuz) became the most organized and influential social group in the practical realization of political plans of Russian Empire, also had only power in nomadic society until the end of the 60th of XIX century. The novelty of this research is that firstly in domestic historiography is considered the process of entry of descendants Abylkhair khan, the khan of Young zhuz – Baimuzhamed Aishuakov and Mukhamedzhan Baimukhamedov on social system of Russian official (rewarding with military ranks, awards and medals) and also on exclusive estate of Russian Empire – dvoryanstvo (nobility). Materials of the article are based on documents which are taken from CSA of the RK and historical literature.
