Historical evolution of Taraz – famous city of the ancient «Great silk road» on Kazakhstan’s territory

Abstract

Talas played an important role in trade and cultural communication between East and West on the ancient «Silk Road» in Central Asia. The article examines the historical evolution of the Talas city (in Chinese first written as «Dalosi») from ancient times to the present day it is determined by the effect of mixing and synthesis of different cultures in medieval Talas on the formation of the national character of the Kazakh people. The au- thor also expresses his views on the role of the modern town of Talas in the rebirth of the «Great Silk Road».
