«Kangui» problem in studies of AN Bernshtam

Abstract

One of the most difficult problems of ancient history and archeology of Kazakhstan – «Kangui» was displayed in the research and articles by prominent archaeologist A. Bernshtam. This article discusses the controversial issues of the localization of Kangui described in Chinese sources, questions about Kangyui as one of the early states of Central Asia, the links Kangui with neighboring tribes, ethnogenesiskangyui and their role in the ethnogenesis of the Kazakh people. The author of this article is also considering different ideas that exist in science today.
