The historiography of studying the problem of statehood of ancient Huns

Abstract

The study of the history of ancient Hun tribes who settled in the territory of Central Asia, starting from nineteenth century. The author notes that this issue is not sufficiently reflected in the works of Russian historians, gives an analysis of the scientific works of Orientalists and historians of the Russian Empire and the Soviet state. In the article the author describes in detail the works of Russian and Soviet scientists, pay attention to their views on the issue of statehood. Analysis of studies of Soviet historians on the issue of statehood, has shown dominant in those years, the view on the absence of nomadic statehood. Feature works of historians in the article, given in chronological order. The article highlights researchers who gave an objective assessment of the history of the nomadic peoples, underlined works of N.N.Kradin, S.G.Klyashtorniy, R.N. Bezertinov. Among the studies of the history of Huns distinguished works of archaeologists.
