In the context of digital transformation, the application and continuous improvement of information technologies in all spheres of society are becoming increasingly important. The ongoing digitalization processes in Kazakhstani society pose new challenges for public institutions, including archival institutions.
This article analyzes the role of archives under conditions of digital transformation. The aim of the study is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the digitalization process in archival affairs in Kazakhstan, which is closely linked to the intensive development and widespread use of information and communication technologies. An analysis of state policy in the field of digitalization demonstrates its systematic and consistent nature, as well as its alignment with global trends. The implementation of programs aimed at building an information society, developing e-government, and digitally transforming the economy has contributed to the accelerated introduction and advancement of innovative technologies in the activities of public authorities.
Special attention is paid to the key areas of Kazakhstan’s archival sector, particularly the organization of archival storage of electronic documents and the digitization of archival materials, using the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan as an example. Priority areas include the formation of a unified information space, the development of modern information infrastructure, and the expansion of access to digital technologies.
The digital transformation of archives is not merely a technical process, but a cultural and institutional shift aimed at rethinking the role of archives in the modern world. It enables archives to become dynamic knowledge centers integrated into the global information space, while ensuring the reliable preservation of authentic evidence of the past for future generations.
