AGAINST AMATEURSHIP IN THE STUDY OF THE HISTORY OF POPULAR UPRISINGS 1929–1931
Abstract
The historical science of sovereign Kazakhstan over the past three decades has been enriched with major achievements in the development of almost all historical periods and, above all, the 20th century, in which the most productive were studies of the Soviet period, in particular the problems of political repressions of the 1920s-1950s. The results of these scientific and historical studies, as well as their authors, are well known. But, along with the achievements in the development of the problems of the Soviet period, there are also significant shortcomings, one of which is the almost complete disappearance of the genre of critical reviews. This could not but lead to the appearance of a number of studies and publications that were weak both in theoretical-conceptual and methodological terms. For this, a simple glance at the content of scientific and historical journals published in Kazakhstan, materials of numerous scientific conferences, collections and individual monographs is enough. Unfortunately, weak works come out not only from the pen of candidates of historical sciences, but also from venerable researchers burdened with doctoral degrees.
