Modern Kazakhstan and the Turkic spirit of T. Ryskulov

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to show, through the description of modern Kazakhstan, the role of the Kazakh intelligentsia, who fell victim to the totalitarian system in the 1930s, in the formation of the state- hood of Kazakhstan. The author focuses attention on the importance of the influence of T. Ryskulov’s views on the ideas of pan-Turkism, the creation of «One/United Turkestan», drawing attention to the fact that under the conditions of totalitarian regime the Kazakh intelligentsia adhered to the political course – the struggle for freedom. Determines the place of Turar Ryskulov in the organization of effective activities to improve the social status of the eastern peoples of the early 20th century. Using reliable sources, the author establishes, wherever he was and on what post was located, T. Ryskulov maintained a course of pan-Turkism, did not change the spirit of pan-Turkism, Including patronizing one of the most important representatives of the Turkic peoples – Kazakhs. The author proves the importance of T. Ryskulov’s ef- forts to unite the Central Asian republics into a single Turkestan Republic, including the invaluable work for his future people, in spite of the persecution of the party.
