Problems of periodization of Kazakh Khanate era

Abstract

The author of this article examines problems of periodization of the Kazakh Khanate which is one of the most pressing problems of the history of the Kazakh Khanate. He calls the period when Kazakh Khanate existed, between the mid of 15th century and 20 decade of 19th century the era of Khanate and divides it into two main eras. The period between formation of Kazakh Khanate and the beginning of the 18th century when Tauke Khan passed away he calls unified era of Kazakh Khanate. The author divides this period into short eras as follows: the era of formation of Khanate, the era of strengthening of Khanate, the era of temporary weakening of Khanate, the renaissance, the era of conflicts, the era of the first fights with Zhongars, the era of «unknown years», and the era of Tauke Khan. In this article all these eras will be described and their specifications will be unveiled. Key words: Kazakh Khanate, Unified period, the period of conflict, Khans, periodization, eras.
