The League of Nations and Turkic people’s struggle for the independence
Abstract
The article considers the history of liberation movement of Turkic people in the context of the self-determination rights of nation. During the Paris Peace Conference, the key for many people who composed of the multinational empires was the principle of national self-determination was. The President of the United States W. Wilson, who was one of the organizers of conference, included in his famous «14» points – the principle of national self-determination. However, this principle was implemented only in respect of some European nations, enters a state of the Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian and Russian empires. But because of internal preconditions, the oriental people, including Turkic, sought also to secede from Russia. Turkic immigrants tried to draw of Western countries’ attention to the problem of independent acquisition by Turkestan nations. At the Paris conference, proclaiming the right of people to self-determination, the Entente countries did not even discuss the issue of granting independence to the people of Eastern countries – colonies of the European powers.
