Medieval towns along the Syr Darya River – was the center of an agricultural culture

Abstract

In given article it is told about development and features of their cultures of the ancient cities located in the middle and lowland on a watercourse of Syr-Darya. Ancient and medieval cities were investigated: first, as the centers of settled culture; secondly, as shopping centers; thirdly, as administrative centers. For example, under the certificate of Ibn-Haukalja, one of the glorified cities, located on a current of Syr-Darya in Oguz epoch Zhankent was not only capital and winter residence of the governor огызов, but also the large shopping center located in lower reaches of Syr-Darya. Here from cities of Asia there arrived the ships loaded with grain. Using archaeological and ethnographic materials, the researcher proves that it was the center of an ancient civilization and the center of agricultural culture. He has short stopped on such cities of agricultural culture located along Syr-Darya, as Savran, Syganak, Jangikent, Zhent, Uzgent, Barshikent etc.
