The Problem of Settling of The Kazakh Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Households in the Pre-Revolution Sources

This article analyzes the issues of settling nomads in the period of strengthening the colonial policy of tsarism at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. Different points of view on the problem of sedentarization of nomadic and semi-nomadic farms are considered in a diversified manner. The analysis and evaluation of the works of various authors, who, in turn, were at that time, officials and civil servants of the Russian Empire. In the article, the author conducts a historical analysis of the opinions and views of researchers and officials on the policy of the sedentarization of the Kazakh traditional economy. Since the second half of the 19th century, in the process of administrative reform of the Steppe, colonization has been intensified, which affects the Kazakhs economy, as an active resettlement policy takes place, displacing Kazakhs from pastures, and encouraging the settling of nomadic farms. The article is based on archival documents from the funds of the Central State Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan, published materials and on the pre-revolutionary works of various researchers.
