Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the age and gender structure of the population of Semey in the second half of the twentieth century and during the years of independence. The article studies how the age and gender composition of the city’s population changed from 1959 to 2016, based on statistical data and other scientific studies. The main factors influencing change of gender and age structure of the population of the city are defined and the ethnoses which are the main reason of its change are defined. The gender structure of the population is grouped through pyramids and diagrams, analyzed from a scientific point of view.
In addition, the age and gender structure of large ethnic groups in Semey is presented. There is a composition of young and old ethnic groups in the city. Also, forecasts were made about the dynamics of their further changes.
