Abstract

The study of the medieval history of Turkic related ethnic groups Kipchaks, Kumans and kimeks, United over the centuries by the territory of settlement, type of economy, language (dialects of the Kipchak group), culture and common historical destiny, is the basis of the conceptual scientific direction of Kipchak studies. The importance of Kipchak tribes for the history of many peoples of Eurasia is determined by their contribution to the process of formation of Turkic-speaking peoples, and the importance of their role in the history of Eastern Europe and the Arab East. This article presents a scientific and analytical review of the history of the study of Kipchak problems in historical science and vision of the prospects of development of Kipchak studies. Research centers for the development of history, geography and culture of Kipchak tribes are located in Hungary, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Bulgaria and in a sense in the United States. To a lesser extent, Kipchak studies were developed in Germany, England, France, Poland, Romania, Egypt and Turkey, Georgia, as well as in the CIS republics – Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan.
