PUBLICATION OF DOCUMENTS FROM ARCHIVAL-INVESTIGATIVE CASES ON PARTICIPANTS IN THE ARMED UPRISINGS OF 1929-1931: ACHIEVEMENTS AND MISSINGS

Abstract

In the history of Kazakhstan in the 20th century, one of the key places is occupied by the activities of Alash, interpreted by domestic Alash scholars as a "national democratic movement". The study of the history of Alash has a long tradition, and the process of studying this history was complex, thorny, sometimes contradictory, which led to ambiguous results. The continuation of this tradition was the publication of a 12-volume collection of documents "Alashorda isi. 1920-1940 livejournal." prepared and published in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 456 of November 24, 2020 "On the State Commission for the Full Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repression". Historians of Kazakhstan have yet to appreciate the place and role of the 12-volume collection of documents in expanding the source basis of the history of Alash in particular and in the history of the Soviet period of the 1920-1940s in general. We, in turn, will limit ourselves to an assessment of the 11th volume, which contains documents and materials containing factual and statistical material on the history of a number of armed uprisings that took place in Kazakhstan in 1929-1931. Our initiative is due to the need to give a balanced assessment of the 11th volume, the content of which represents a significant breakthrough in the expansion and deepening of scientific understanding of the history of the armed uprisings of 1929-1931.
